Trademark Application
Definition:
A document by which a person requests a federal trademark registration.
Notice
Definition:
A formal sign or notification attached to physical objects that embody or reproduce an intellectual property right -- for example, the use of the word "patent" or its abbreviation, "pat.," together with the patent number, on a patented article made by a patent holder or his/her licensees.
Washington Treaty
Definition:
China was among the first countries to sign this treaty, but the United States and Japan did not sign it due to disagreements with compulsory licences, the treatment of innocent infringement, and the protection of designs when they are incorporated in industrial products.
PrinTEAS
Definition:
A former feature of the USPTO's electronic filing system that allowed applicants to complete a trademark application on-line, and then print it out for mailing to the USPTO.
Trade Secret
Definition:
A trade secret includes proprietary knowledge and other confidential information that companies keep secret to give them an advantage over their competitors.
Hallmark
Definition:
Originally an impression made on gold and silverware introduced in the beginning of the fourteenth century in England to identify the quality of the metal used. Later, a mark to identify the maker and year of production.
